It was a great turn out yesterday in front of Oakland’s City Hall for the 2010 Earth Expo! Thanks to all who showed up!

I gave out culinary herbs from the GrassRoutes Garden – sage, rosemary, two kinds of thyme, oregano, and peppermint and it was great talking shop about cooking, gardening, and fabulous Oakland staycations that give back!

This year GrassRoutes Travel is again up for an Oakland Indie Award, an annual celebration of the best local businesses that inspire the community in various ways. Serena spoke at the first annual Oakland Indie Awards (photo below), and she’s still a big part of the Oakland small business community. VOTE BEFORE MARCH 24!!

Hi! I’m Serena Bartlett. I’m glad you found your way to my site, where you can get a closer look at my work.

I love writing, and so far I’ve written five GrassRoutes Guides. They each feature the best businesses and activities that give back to the community, environment, and local economy. You can browse them on the book website, on Amazon, or at my favorite indie site Buy Olympia.

I write about travel, food, sustainability, and other things that make me tick.

When I’m not writing, or adventuring on the road, I wax creative in the kitchen, in the garden, and elsewhere.
