When I was in 2nd Grade my parents wouldn’t let me go to the amusement park, so I took apart my Bubba’s unwanted costume jewelry and took my allowance to the craft store, then sold my wares door to door until I had enough to pay for me, my friend, and my father to go to the park. We had a great time that day, and I’ve been inspired to continue designing under the same Ear to Ear name whenever I could.
I am a travel writer as my primary work, (more about my guidebook series at www.grassroutestravel.com), and so I collect beads, charms, and found objects on my travels. I love finding old jewelry and taking it apart, and my work always has a mixture of metals and at least one vintage piece.
I like to tell a story with each piece, like a collage of the places where each bead or charm originated…
